She’s only seven, but Anaya Dailey is already working to make the world a better place. The second-grader noticed that a classmate only had one pair of completely worn out shoes, so she asked her parents to buy another pair for him. They were happy to do it and that inspired the little girl to start a small shoe drive for other kids in her class, many of whom fall below the poverty line.

So she and her family got to work and Anaya’s Shoe Box in St. Cloud, Florida was created. They collect shoes and donations to buy new shoes for those in need and have partnered with her elementary school and local churches to get the shoes to those who can use them most. So far they’ve collected over 300 pairs and they’re not done yet.

Anaya’s mother, Marlene, says her daughter has learned valuable lessons from this project about being kind to others, helping people who need it and that “generosity has a way of giving back.”
