Netflix Cancels “One Day at a Time” After 3 Seasons

Netflix has canceled One Day at a Time after three seasons.

“We’ve made the very difficult decision not to renew One Day At a Time for a fourth season,” the streaming service says in a statement shared by USA Today. “The choice did not come easily–we spent several weeks trying to find a way to make another season work but in the end, simply not enough people watched to justify another season.”

Executive producer Gloria Calderon Kellett also tweeted about the cancelation on Thursday, noting that they are trying to find a new home for the show.

The Netflix series was a reboot of Norman Lear’s 1975 sitcom of the same name and told the story of the Cuban-American Alvarez family in Los Angeles. The family is led by Penelope, a single former Army nurse who gets help from her mother–played by Oscar winner Rita Moreno–raising a lesbian daughter and athletic son. The series was celebrated for is diversity and representation.
