Abilene Christian Basketball Coach to Face Kentucky in Torn Pants

Abilene Christian head men’s basketball coach Joe Golding tore a hole in his suit pants while celebrating the Wildcats’ 77-60 win over New Orleans last week in the Southland Conference title game.

That victory punched Abilene Christian’s ticket to the NCAA tournament, where they’ll face mighty Kentucky in a first-round matchup on Thursday.

As for Golding, he’ll be wearing the same pair of pants, hole and all–not because he’s superstitious, but because he only owns one suit and Abilene’s lone tailor couldn’t fix the ripped trousers in time for his team’s trip to Florida for the big game.

As for simply buying a new suit, Golding tells ESPN that’s not an option because he doesn’t get his bonus until June 1. “I heard somebody was going to start a GoFundMe page,” he told reporters on Wednesday. “I would appreciate it, any help I can get.”
